Iraq has concluded an agreement to buy some 60,000 tonnes of rice from Vietnam in a direct deal without a tender, European traders said on Monday.
A preliminary agreement was reached to purchase the shipment at $ 590 per ton, including the cost of shipment, with delivery to be made 75 days after the opening of a letter of credit for the transaction.
Traders said the deal came after the purchase of some 30,000 tonnes of rice from Pakistan and another 30,000 tonnes from Uruguay in an international tender on Thursday.
