Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Saturday that his country will continue economic cooperation with the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
But Bogdunov said in an interview with Sputnik in response to a question on economic cooperation between Russia and the Kurdistan region of Iraq: “We have been and still do and will continue, of course, in coordination with the central government.”
The referendum on secession from Iraq in the Kurdistan region on the twenty-fifth of last month was met with rejection by Turkey, Iran, Iraq and other regional powers along with the United States.
Turkey, Iran and Iraq have taken economic measures against the region, including closing the border crossings with it and closing its airspace to the planes heading to it.
