The Minister of Planning Salman Jumaili discussed with the German Ambassador in Baghdad Cyril Nun the reality of economic and trade relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in order to enhance cooperation between them.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Planning, the two sides discussed during the meeting a number of issues and important files between the two countries, including mechanisms to take advantage of the German loan facilitator granted to Iraq and 500 million euros and what projects can be financed from this loan, especially reconstruction projects.
The statement pointed out that “Jumaili explained to the German ambassador that the amount of the loan will be allocated to finance service projects through the Fund reconstruction of the affected areas, especially in the field of construction of hospitals and the provision of electricity and other service projects in the liberated provinces.”
The two sides also discussed the German participation in the forty-fourth session of the Baghdad International Fair. Ambassador Nun confirmed that a group of German companies will arrive in Baghdad to participate in the exhibition with a large trade and government delegation headed by the special envoy of Chancellor Merkel, to hold a round of investment talks with their Iraqi counterparts, Adding that Germany views Iraq with interest because it represents a promising investment environment.
