KUWAIT CITY: Kuwaiti Finance Ministry and Kuwait Airways are coordinating efforts to receive $ 500 million, media reports said Saturday.
“The payments are due to be made in the form of a payment or two payments over the next few months,” Arak Business News said in Khobar.
“The initial agreement was for Iraq to pay $ 300 million in cash and transfer the remaining $ 200 million to a capital base to establish Iraqi-Kuwaiti Airways as a joint venture that was canceled,” he said.
Iraq will pay the debt in full as part of an out-of-court settlement in return for dropping cases against Iraqi Airways for damage to the Kuwait Airways fleet during the period of Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
