The trade exchange between the Kurdistan Region and the central and southern governorates of Iraq resumed Monday after a five-day suspension.
Said Sirwan Mohammed, head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sulaymaniyah that hundreds of trucks loaded arrived in the city of Sulaymaniyah today, confirming the resumption of trade exchange between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region. He told reporters
Baghdad imposed sanctions on the province of Kurdistan because of the establishment of a non-binding referendum on independence from Iraq, which received sweeping support.
