A senior source in the Diyala Council said on Friday that four cities in the province rejected the privatization of electricity by official decisions of their local councils, while he indicated that it threatened to hold popular sit-ins.
The source said that “four cities in Diyala, including Baquba, rejected the privatization of electricity by official decisions of its local councils because of its belief that privatization will harm the interest of the citizen and will lead to great problems.”
“The four cities have threatened popular sit-ins to respond to privatization,” the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
It is noteworthy that the electricity network was transferred to Baquba and surrounding areas, a few months ago, fully to the investment company to collect wages of service.
