The governor of Basra, Asaad al-Eidani, announced on Wednesday the agreement to activate the twinning agreement with Houston, signed two years ago, pointing to the near dispatch of staff to Houston to benefit from the experience of repairing the great damage caused by the cyclone that swept through last month.
“During the meeting we agreed to activate the Twinning Agreement between Basra and Houston, and we also conveyed to the ambassador our condolences to the families of the victims of the hurricane that swept through Houston and caused serious damage,” Eidani told a press conference after meeting with US Ambassador Douglas Silliman.
“Houston will witness the reconstruction campaign to repair the damage caused by the hurricane, and we in Basra want to take advantage of this experience by sending staff from different service sectors to see a close to the reconstruction efforts.”
